His Story
Raul Acosta was born and raised in Colorado Springs. He grew up in a working-class family in District 1, where he learned early that hard work, community, and integrity aren't just values — they're survival skills.
After graduating from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs with a degree in Business Administration, Raul returned to the community that shaped him. He built a small business from the ground up, employing local residents and investing in the neighborhood he calls home.
Over the past 15 years, Raul has served on the District 1 Neighborhood Advisory Board, volunteered with the El Paso County Food Bank, and coached youth soccer at Doherty High School. He's not a career politician — he's a neighbor who got tired of watching decisions get made without the community at the table.
When Raul looks at El Paso County, he sees enormous potential — and real challenges. Roads that need repair. Families priced out of the housing market. Small businesses struggling to compete. He believes county government can do better, and he's running to prove it.
"Growth with Conscience isn't a slogan — it's how I've tried to live my life. We can build a stronger county without leaving anyone behind. That's what I'm running to do."
Why He's Running
Raul has watched District 1 roads deteriorate while development fees pile up in county accounts. He'll fight to make sure infrastructure investment follows growth — not the other way around.
As a small business owner himself, Raul knows the regulatory hurdles and tax pressures that make it hard to grow. He'll cut red tape and create an environment where local businesses can thrive.
Public safety starts with trust. Raul will fully fund our sheriff's office and emergency services while building the community relationships that make those investments effective.
El Paso County taxpayers deserve a commissioner who treats every dollar like it came out of their own pocket. Raul will bring the same discipline to county government that he brings to his own business.
Community Ties
Raul's commitment to El Paso County isn't new, he helped raise his family of nine children all the while in District 1.
Raul can't do this alone. Whether you volunteer, donate, or simply spread the word — every action matters.
